Direct Work with Children and Young People
Our Direct Work with Children and Young People training is co-produced and co-facilitated training by the Social Care Academy and our Care Experienced Children and Young People (Youth Educators).
The aims and objectives of the current Direct Work with Children and Young People Sessions are:
- To have a safe space to talk about direct work with children and young people
- To share tools to use with children and young people to gather how they feel in the moment, about a specific issue or about their future
- To discuss and listen to the voice of the child and/ young person
- To ensure that the voice of children and young people are heard and our work reflects this
For our children and young people ‘direct work’ means…
- Communication with us…
- Connection with us…
- Engagement with us…
- Support from us…
- Knowledge building…
- Mutual understanding…
- Being open….
- Mutual curiosity…
This training is underpinned by Restorative Practice and works toward sharing direct work tools which support practitioners to seek to understand through communication, connection and engagement.
