Detail:

Trauma-informed practice helps practitioners understand how trauma negatively impacts on individuals and communities, and their ability to feel safe or develop trusting relationships with professionals. This understanding enables professionals to adopt trauma-informed approaches that improve the quality of services and individuals’ experiences of using those services, reduces the risk of re-traumatisation, and strengthens relationships, therefore improving outcomes for people.

This is a half-day course and will be delivered virtually (MS Teams) by Safer Together, an expert safeguarding and training organisation.

Aims:

  • To enhance practitioners' knowledge and understanding of trauma and trauma informed approaches,
  • To recognise and understand common trauma responses,
  • To understand the principles of strengths-based trauma informed approaches,
  • To explore how to practically apply trauma informed principles

Target Audience: This course is for any staff or volunteers that work/volunteer with adults and/or children and families in Herefordshire.
