This course is for anyone who interacts with the general public in a work of voluntary role, to understand what domestic abuse and sexual violence are, and how you can respond if you have a concern for someone.
Audience – This course is for anyone who works or volunteers in the voluntary and community sector, sports clubs, businesses, or volunteers/staff in roles where they interact with the general public.
Learning aims:
- Understand the terms domestic abuse and sexual violence
- Understand how domestic abuse and sexual violence impacts on our communities
- Discuss unconscious bias, myths and stereotypes
- Understand what is an active bystander, the bystander effect and the role of the bystander in the prevention of violence
- Identity a range of tools for bystanders to safely support/challenge others
- Respond to a person who discloses domestic abuse and/or sexual violence
- Know how to make a referral when there are safeguarding concerns
