Course Aim:
To enable participants to develop their understanding and practice in respect of family finding for children, the matching process with ACE and the ongoing support to adoptive families once children are living within the household.
Learning Outcomes:
- To gain an understanding of the family finding process and the importance of identifying the right adoptive family for children
- Consideration of the key considerations and questions to explore with families during family finding visit
- To understand the timescales and processes included in taking a child to adoption matching panel, including the roles and responsibilities of the child’s social worker, adoption social worker and fostering social worker.
- Planning for transitions
- Exploration and consideration of other children already in the home
- To gain an understanding of how best to support adoptive families once the child is in their care, the roles and responsibilities of the child’s and adoption social worker and things to consider during statutory or support visits.
