The aim of this webinar is to raise awareness and prompt a more critical understanding of some of the hidden harms of domestic abuse; namely the elevated risk of suicidality and the victimisation of children in domestically abusive contexts.
The webinar will be delivered over 2:5 hours and in two parts.
Part 1: The nexus between domestic abuse and suicide
Key Learning Aims:
- Explore the evidence and research which highlights how and why suicide is now the leading cause of death in domestic abuse cases.
- Understand the link between coercive and controlling behaviour and suicide
- How to spot the signs of high-risk behaviour
- Recognising the benefits of a multi-agency, co-ordinated safeguarding response.
Part 2: Child Victims of Domestic Abuse:
Key Learning Aims:
- Understand the law in relation to children and Domestic Abuse
- Recognising domestic abuse within the context of adolescent relationships.
- Explore the impact of Domestic Abuse on children from a trauma informed perspective.
- Recognise the role of safeguarding and Child Protection processes in responding to child victims of Domestic Abuse.
