Contextual safeguarding is an approach to understanding and responding to, young people’s experiences of significant harm beyond their families.
Therefore contextual safeguarding expands the objectives of child protection systems
- Recognise that extra- familial risks such as sexual and criminal exploitation are forms of abuse requiring safeguarding response
- Identify interventions and focus on addressing wider environmental factors
- Discuss the contextual risks faced by young people who have instigated or perpetrated harm as well as those who they have abused
- Take part in case studies to identify contextual safeguarding and to be able to complete the risk assessment form.
A cancellation policy will apply. All agencies will be required to pay for cancellations with less than 7 working days’ notice and for on the day no shows. The cancellation charges will be £60 for a full day course and £30 for a half day or less course.
