This is multi-agency safeguarding children training for those who support and care for children. It is for those that work and/ or volunteer with children and young people. All organisations and agencies that work with children share an obligation to safeguard and promote their welfare. The course is delivered online via Microsoft Teams and the topics will help you to:

  • Recognise the different categories of child abuse and the possible signs and indicators
  • Understand how child development may be impacted upon by abuse
  • Recognise your own safeguarding roles and responsibilities
  • Understand the importance of the child's voice and how to listen to what the child has to say
  • Be clear about what you should do if you are concerned about a child and how to inform those that should know about those concerns
  • Be clear about how to respond to a childĀ

The course will cover an introduction to the different types of neglect and abuse, the legislative framework for child safeguarding, how to make a safeguarding referral; challenge and how to escalate a concern; curiosity and the need to look beyond the obvious; learning from child safeguarding practice reviews and case audits; guidance on information sharing, and listening to what children are telling us.
