Course Aim:

To enable participants to explore the Child Permanence Report (CPR) for the child and consider best practice and what should and should not be included in a CPR. The CPR is a significant document in the care planning for a child with a plan of adoption. It is a document with several purposes and audiences, and it is important that once completed it is fit for purpose in meeting all these requirements. 

Learning Outcomes: 

  • To understand what a CPR is and what is it used for
  • To consider the new ACE CPR template and best practice in completing the CPR
  • To explore what should be included in the CPR.
  • To explore different tools, research and practice that can be used to inform the completion of the CPR
  • To consider the guidance on writing the CPR, including style and aiming at the audience, how to consider the child's needs including their future needs based on their early lived and trauma experiences, using Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) and trauma informed approaches
  • To consider the contact assessment tool to inform decision making in relation to post adoption contact.
  • Understand how to plan and prepare for an ADM best interest decision for a child when seeking a plan of adoption, including liaising with ACE's agency advisor.
