Course Aim:

To support and enable Team Managers and supervising social workers to understand and develop good practice around the processes of permanency planning, including the importance of management oversight and support and robust quality assurance processes.

 

Course objectives:

  • To understand roles and responsibilities within the statutory and legal frameworks for permanency planning.
  • To explore good practice relating to timescales for permanency and understand where drift and delay can arise.
  • To develop good practice on how to support and provide oversight for staff not qualified under the report writing regulations.
  • To develop smart ways of working to ensure effective care planning and permanency processes for children in care.
  • To consider and put into practice effective quality assurance practices that will develop learning within the wider team and improve practice and outcomes for children and families.
  • To develop and understand the importance of collaborative working, with IRO’s legal services, ACE, fostering services and other professionals who support permanency planning for children.
